1. What is RELIC?

 

The Ruth E. Lloyd Information Center (RELIC) is a special collection devoted to genealogy and local history with a focus on Virginia and Prince William County. Located at Bull Run Regional Library in Manassas, VA, RELIC is open and staffed the same hours as the rest of the Library. 

 

2. What is HSF?

 

Historic Sites File (HSF) is a section of the RELIC Web site permitting online public access to many Prince William County historical site records. 

 

3. What is HSF Index?

 

HSF Index is an online tool for accessing historic site documents previously available only by in-person visits to the RELIC facility.

   

4. Will the HSF Index permit detailed searchs?

 

No. The HSF Quick Index is simply constructed using a traditional hierarchical file system i.e., it does not use an actual digital database. Quick Index patrons use the 'Alphabetical' and 'Chronological' views to locate available HSF information. 

 

5. What does the ‘Alphabetical’ section show me?

 

Patrons use the 'Alphabetical' link in the HSF Quick Index to locate historical sites known by name or descriptive terms. 

 

6. What does the ‘Chronological’ section show me?

Patrons use the 'Chronological' link in the HSF Quick Index to locate historical sites known by the time or date the site was originally built.
